305 x 375 cm
DIACHRONIC MEMORY
The sound element of the Jacquard knit encoded in a spectrogram, read and converted to sound by the rotating camera is a montage of a few elements. From left to right: the sound of an approaching V1 rocket from World War 2, the fragment of my sound composition created using a graphic tablet (in a similar manner that composer Iannis Xenakis used his Upic system), and then another sound of approaching V1 rocket and its impact. The contemporary character in the centre of the image practising yoga can be interpreted as forming a parallel to the characters from work (1) Yes to the Body.
The rotating camera reads the textile and converts it to sound much like a spectrogram.
